It would be better without ego. Humanity is not destroying the world, humanity is innocent. Ego is destroying the world. Ego is the parasite of the mind, and consequently, it is only natural that many people feel that humanity is the parasite of the planet. The intuition is correct, but the causation is not, because when people identify with their ego, they see other people as egos, egos that have bodies. So in their minds, egos and people are almost synonymous. But in reality, they’re not, ego is a very small part of every person. It is something people have, it’s not something people are. It makes people do silly, irrational things, like destroying the planet, and it blinds them to their own irrationality.

There’s a widespread perception that this is just how we are, this is our nature, evolution, we are greedy, competitive, violent, short-sighted, self-serving - none of that is true. But ego certainly is all these things, because our society is all these things, and ego is but an ugly child of it which has been deprived of love. Give it love and it will start to dissolve.
