Can someone with a bipolar personality disorder be enlightened?
If you are asking if someone with BPD can attain enlightenment, then the answer is yes, for sure. Ego is the source of all personality disorders. No personality disorder is a hindrance to attaining enlightenment. Personality disorders are just a slightly more extreme manifestation of pain and suffering, but from the enlightened perspective, there’s not a lot of difference between a person with a personality disorder and a person who has never been diagnosed with one. Some psychologists would say half the population has undiagnosed personality disorders, and they would probably be correct. There’s nothing wrong with it, if you’re asking about yourself, don’t let anyone stigmatize you. It’s not a disorder, it’s just how you are, currently, accept it, love it, learn to be at peace with it. And try and learn to be at peace with yourself doing nothing, be non-reactive. It’s a long process, but it’s possible.
If you are asking whether an enlightened person could still suffer from BPD, then no, it’s impossible.
