There’s no such thing as narcissists. Every ego is narcissistic in its nature, even that of the Pope. Narcissists are just people with very big egos, and as such, they actually suffer more than most people, not less.

Enlightened people aren’t opposed by narcissists, they are opposed by egos. When an enlightened person speaks truth to the ego, it hurts the ego. The ego sees the world upside down, so it attributes its pain to the enlightened person, it sees him as the source of its pain, because it cannot see itself as the source of its pain yet (this can only happen in self-realization). When ego is in pain, its response is usually to invoke pain onto the source of the pain, that is, the ego of the person who “caused” it pain, and try to hurt it based on how this person is perceived by the ego.

So an ego could even ask for truth, get it, and then immediately turn around and start attacking the enlightened person. Since the enlightened person has no emotional reaction to those attacks as he doesn’t have an ego of his own, this is even more maddening for the ego and it can go on for quite a while until it settles down.

Ego always sees its own reflection in the enlightened person.

Now, if in your question the enlightened person is you, and you feel like narcissists attack you, and it’s a source of discomfort for you, you are not enlightened, not yet.
