How do I get rid of my emotions?
Your emotions are not a problem. The problem is that you’re addicted to them, to an extent that they control you. This is why you want to get rid of it, because you want to become more free.
So, just like with any addiction the key is not to give in. You cannot control emotion, it’s impossible. But you can and you should not let them control your actions. So the next time an overwhelming emotion comes, just try and do nothing. Just sit with it. Watch it. Don’t try to avoid it, but don’t let it make you do anything. You will notice that invariably it will fade away. It cannot persist for very long unless you are fueling it with either your action or thought. Try to just watch it silently and experience it without judgment. Don’t think of any emotion as a bad or inappropriate emotion. That’s judgment and you’ll just get more of it.
It won’t be easy in the beginning, but eventually you will realize that you don’t have to be an addict. Yes, emotion will come and go, but you don’t have to act them out.
