Why do I never feel satisfied?
You don’t feel satisfied because you don’t want to be. I know that this might not be a pleasant answer for you to read, but then it is most certainly true. The biggest lesson of life is that the only thing that can possibly hurt you is truth. Lies can never hurt you, lies are comfortable. You probably know on some level that this is true, otherwise you would not have summoned the courage to ask this question.
You are always looking for your satisfaction in the future, which means you cannot be satisfied now. But when the future comes, it is now again (surprise!), so you are not satisfied again. The only way to get out of your misery is to learn to be satisfied now. So try and do nothing, stop the chase. It will be uncomfortable and probably emotional, you will feel restless, jittery, and you won’t like it. But looking to the future for your satisfaction is an addiction, and as all addictions go you must go through a withdrawal period. Persevere. Just watch it all happen. It will not last forever, although it will seem like it lasts forever. Try meditation, which is basically a more intense way of doing nothing. Try psychedelics, which is basically a more intense way of doing meditation. You might experience a lot of things in your pursuit for learning how to be happy now, and it might not be pleasant. Don’t look for any explanation of what’s happening to you, just let it happen.
Doing nothing and being happy about it is the ultimate expression of self-love. For as long as you’re not able to do it, you can’t be said to truly love yourself, because a simple act of being with yourself brings you discomfort. Learn to love yourself.
