Does an enlightened person have the power to liberate others?

No, absolutely not. Only you can make the realization.

If you feel something in the presence of an enlightened person, it simply means the pull is there. You start opening up, the yearning to know the truth is there. Other people might not feel anything at all.

It’s all in the mind. Some people might start shaking in the presence of the President of the United States. Does that mean he has any psychological power over them? Only what they allow him to have. It’s the same with gurus and masters. If you are not ready to take the dive, they hold no power over you. If you are ready, they will be like a magnet.

As Osho said once, “if the person isn’t ready, a thousand Buddhas will not help him”.

You even, strictly speaking, cannot feel “presence” of an enlightened person. You feel your own presence within you. Just like you can’t “see” or “feel” other people’s egos - you can only feel your own. People who say they can “sense” other people’s egos, presence, state of consciousness or auras are in the beginning stages of expansion.

But can an enlightened person help you make the realization, if you allow it? Show you the road, so to speak? Yes, absolutely. The path is still yours to walk.
