This is akin to asking “What happens to a character in the movie after the movie ends?”

You can’t say that something happens. But you can’t say that nothing happens either. This question just makes no sense, it’s inapplicable, it is not the question that can be answered, because it’s absurd. That’s why Buddha refused to answer this question.

There’s no such thing as “your” body. The concept of self is illusory, it’s only a concept in the mind. You are the body. So when the body dies, you, as the body, do not exist. And hence, you cannot know it. You cannot experience it. Precisely in the same way as it was before your birth, but no one seems to be as interested in that question.

There cannot be life without death, there cannot be knowing without not knowing. All you can know is yourself and all you can do is enjoy your life, you cannot know anything else.

Enlightenment is not about finding out what happens after death, it’s about learning how to live your life, fully, and be free from all your fears.
