If we are living in a simulation, for what purpose would some higher intelligence have created it?

The idea that we’re living in a simulation comes from a tacid acknowledgment, risen from the depths of the unconscious, that one is living in the simulation of their own mind.

When the true nature of reality is known, this question does not arise.

Yes, it is certainly possible, that given sufficient technological progress, we can create a simulated universe with simulated beings possessing some form of intelligence, but if we did that, we would have to explicitly program into these beings the yearning to know if they are living in a simulation or not, the sense of separation from their “master program”. Because unless we do that, they would have no reason to perceive anything other than what they’re programmed to do, just like an enlightened person doesn’t perceive anything else than being a biological organism that survives. They would not perceive neither a sense of separation from their simulated environment, nor the sense of separation of the simulated universe from its mother universe (ours), they won’t have any existential crises or philosophical questions about the nature of their existence. In humans, only ego is responsible for such inquiries, and it’s an utterly useless pursuit. It’s only use is self-destruction, that is, destruction of the ego, that’s the true purpose of all existential questions.
