Why are my thoughts so out of control? I feel like I need to act on them in order to feel better.
You don’t. It will be a temporary relief. A much more permanent relief will come when you learn not to listen to your thoughts and pay less attention to them. How many times have they deceived you?
Your question reveals that on some level you already know the deceptive nature of thought. If you hadn’t you wouldn’t have said “I feel like I have to act on them”, you would just acted and it wouldn’t occur to you to ask that question at all. So you already know that you don’t.
