Do you still fear death after you've reached enlightenment?

No. But it’s not because my soul is eternal and will never die or be reincarnated. It’s because there’s nothing left to die in me except the body. And the body always dies, there’s nothing you can do about it. It also never wants to die unless it’s frail and it is time, so I would fight for my life if I have to. You die in enlightenment, but you are not the body.

“Eternal souls” are not enlightened, they’re on the way. One of the fetters of Buddhism is clinging to immaterial existence, they kinda missed that part hehe. If eternal soul is not immaterial existence, I don’t know what is. So if you think you cannot die because you’re deathless consciousness now, you’re not enlightened yet. I used to think the same way, it was not the end of it, it was the beginning of it.

The death of the ego is the birth of the soul. The death of the soul is enlightenment.

Your life may be eternal, but it’s not infinite. You won’t get another one and your existence will not continue after the death of the body. Enlightenment can be said to be making complete peace with your death. Only then one can truly live.
