Would a spiritually enlightened person think of themselves as being enlightened?
Why not?
If we define enlightenment as absolute freedom, then how can it be absolute freedom if it’s freedom in everything except acknowledging that you are free? Sorry, but this is like, super weird.
Or maybe we should define enlightenment as seeing truth? But then, wouldn’t the fact that you’re seeing truth be truth? So you see truth everywhere, except in your own ability to see truth. Super weird again.
This is a silly notion. It probably comes from the fact that the absolute majority of people who declare themselves enlightened are actually not, at least not yet, and this fact is undeniably true, there’s no question about it. It’s very common, because a lot of compassion is often uncovered, and I did it, too.
