If you are enlightened and you are living among unenlightened people how do you hide your enlightenment?
If there’s a need to hide your enlightenment, it is no enlightenment, not yet.
The question of whether to hide or “show” enlightenment comes from a desire to be seen. Only ego wants to be seen.
In authentic enlightenment, the desire to be seen as enlightened will arise out of compassion. That’s why people announce. To a normal or a spiritual person, such announcement seems like that of infinite arrogance, but to an enlightened person it is that of infinite humility. It is his tears for humanity.
But compassion and the desire to been seen as enlightened are two sides of the same coin. It is still a relationship, a beautiful one, the highest one, but still one. It may take many years, but eventually it will subside.
Both compassion and the question of hiding or showing disappear when you plunge into complete aloneness and become invisible. The last layer of the dream is the enlightened ego, the last relationship is that of a Bodhisattva, and the last delusion is that of Nirvana.
There is nothing to show and nothing to hide.
