What is a positive ego and a negative ego?
Positive ego is one that views itself favorably in comparison to other egos, and it will need to see its own ugliness and others’ beauty after it realizes the truth.
Negative ego is one that views itself unfavorably in comparison to other egos, and it will need to see its own beauty and others’ ugliness after it realizes the truth.
Ego is multidimensional and multilayered, so one person has many positive and negative aspects of their own ego, as well as the opposite complementary traits of others.
For example, one can be ashamed of their own insecurity and admire others who are confident. One will then see and accept both the beauty and truthfulness of insecurity and the cruelty and pretense of confidence.
The same person could see themselves as loving and giving and some others as selfish and egotistic. They will then have to see and accept both the fakeness and ugliness of their altruism and the authenticity and strength of selfishness.
Ego exists in you, and other egos exist in you also. The mind has split itself into a hundred persons. All egos must merge together before you can become whole.
Insecurity cannot exist without confidence, altruism cannot exist without selfishness. All traits are equivalent in their opposition. Humility is pride of being humble, bravery is fear of being a coward. All these traits are empty, a facade, a role ego plays. It has no substance. Might as well roll a dice, it doesn’t matter which side you ended up on. Positive or negative - both are fake, both are a pretense. But ego must play a role, it cannot exist without it. Without a role to play, its existence becomes tortuous. If your very existence became tortuous, it’s a sign of great spiritual progress.
The truth lies much deeper than the superficiality of the personality, it has to be abandoned. The truth lies behind all these masks. All masks must be burned.
