What are some examples of enlightened self-interests?
All interests are always self-interests.
This part never changes in enlightenment. What changes is the notion of self.
In the separated state, there’s a clear distinction between the things you’re doing for “you” and the things you’re doing for “others”. That is an illusion. When you tell yourself you’re doing something for others, you’re really doing it for yourself - to reinforce the false image of yourself as an altruistic person. Or to be on good terms with others. The truth is always there, it’s just unpleasant and uncomfortable to accept it.
Notice that in love the distinction fades. When you’re madly in love with someone, the question of whether you do things for yourself or for them doesn’t arise. It’s seen as one and the same. You want to see them happy because it makes you happy to see them happy. It’s authentic. You don’t have to think about it.
