What is the distinction between the conscious and subconscious mind?
They are parts of the same thing.
The mind is a dreamer, it creates many dreams. They are layered on top of each other. Then the mind believes its own creation, so dreaming becomes a reality, just like when you’re dreaming at night, and it becomes impossible to tell.
The layer at which you are dreaming determines your conscious mind. What is unconscious at one level becomes conscious at another level. That’s why dreams can be universal, and independent societies have various myths and legends developed independently - the ideas of the soul, God, even the great flood is a very common event in independent mythology.
Every layer of dreaming is unreality, which is why life can seem so complicated, so mysterious. In reality, life is very simple. The contents of the unconscious can’t be brought up to the surface directly, but sometimes they bubble up. The idea of “intuition” also comes from this phenomenon.
Falling in love can be described as a conflict between conscious and unconscious minds, which is why people sometimes describe it as going crazy. Every inner conflict is of the very same nature.
