Why do teens feel like they are invincible and don't have to follow rules?
No one has to follow rules. Do you follow rules? Here’s a rule for you: don’t ask questions on Quora. Will you follow? You only follow rules which you want to follow.
Teenagers are rebellious because they’re trying to break free from parental bondage, which is, in most cases, hatred in disguise. They are bitter and trying to establish their own autonomy. They are often times bitter at society, too, for exactly the same reason.
Unfortunately, they don’t take their rebellion far enough and take solace in their own, teenage society. It is in opposition to the mainstream society, but it is its own society, with its own rules, and teenagers can be and often times are exceptionally cruel to each other within this society - the behavior they learned from their parents, TV, and each other. This is unfortunate, but at the very least they treat each other as individuals, not objects to be molded into a proper shape, which is often times the treatment they get from parents.
