The most misleading information that is taught about enlightenment, by far, is that enlightenment is reaching non-duality. It is a very common and a very persistent myth.

Enlightenment is not reaching non-duality, reaching non-duality is the dawn of enlightenment, it’s the very beginning of the spiritual path. You can call it awakening, self-realization, but it’s not enlightenment. Osho, bless his soul, counted seven or eight bodies, and the non-dual body was just the fifth body. He is correct, I confirm this with my experience.

Enlightenment lies at the end of the spiritual journey, beyond both entering non-duality, which is discovering your Being, and the subsequent discovering of your non-Being. It lies even beyond that. There’s nothing spiritual about enlightenment, and there’s nothing non-dual about enlightenment. It transcends spirituality, non-duality, consciousness and ultimately transcendence itself.
