No, it will not happen. Science and spirituality are strictly orthogonal pursuits. They can’t join forces, because they are about different things entirely.

Science studies the external world and how things work there. Spirituality is a journey into your internal world and how things work there. Science cannot help you make this journey, and spirituality can’t help science to find new laws of nature. These things are unrelated.

A fully enlightened person can easily still work as a scientist. It won’t make him a better scientist, maybe only to the extent that all personal drama will be gone, it’s easier to concentrate on topics with a clear head and he will be more open-minded. But it’s not gonna give him any insights into physics, for example, not at all.
