Is human brain made to understand just the world around us or to understand itself?

Hahaha, what a wonderful question! Both!

It is made to understand the world around you, yes, just like the brain of any other animal. That’s its function.

But the human mind also doesn’t understand itself, that’s its dysfunction. Every animal understands itself, almost no human does, that’s the difference between humans and animals. Understanding itself is the most wonderful, scary, emotional and blissful feat the human mind can ever undertake, it is what has been historically called “spiritual enlightenment”, and that’s ultimately what all religions have sprouted from (some more confused than others). When complete, it makes you no different than any other animal.
