Why can't I believe in science?

Science is not meant to be believed in. Please do not “believe” in science.

Science is a method for making complicated predictions about reality, i.e. what’s gonna happen if I do X?

If you hold an apple in your hand and you release it, it will drop to the ground. That’s science. Then, by using multiple observations we can measure the speed of the fall and the time it takes for it to fall, and put it in a mathematical formula. If this formula works, that is, if it correctly predicts the speed and duration of the fall for various different objects, that’s science. Voila! Now you can know in advance how fast your apple will fall. This can be somewhat useful.

Usefulness of science comes from its ability to make predictions. If it has no predictive power, it’s not science. Philosophy is not science. Any philosophical statement about who you are, or why things are the way they are, or why you are here, or why you experience the things you experience is not science. It’s philosophical mumbo-jumbo.

Don’t confuse explanations with predictions, and science will be your friend. It’s an incredibly useful tool, it works, and it’s true. As far as explanations are concerned, there’s what people call “spirituality” - discovering the true nature of your existence. It is beyond matters of belief, it also works, and it’s also true.

There is absolutely no conflict between the two.
