Why are humans so destructive to the Earth?

We don’t love ourselves. We built a very judgmental and competitive society where this natural, innate ability, which is the very foundation of our nature, is thwarted since the early childhood in the name of a great many values: success, niceness, morality, legacy, respect, you name it. Since most everyone is this way, it is passed from generation to generation.

If you don’t truly love yourself, you can’t truly love anyone else, leave alone the planet. Those who do love themselves more, love the Earth more. When you love yourself infinitely, you have nothing to prove, so unfortunately, those drawn to power, success, money and prestige often times love themselves the least. The stronger the drive is to those things, the deeper is the sense of internal dissatisfaction, but the more likely one is to succeed and rise to a position of influence, precisely because of it. There are certainly people in positions of influence that never had this drive (they just love what they do and they’re good at it), but they aren’t as many, because those truly hungry for power and influence can often times easily outmaneuver them, especially in politics and business. So the cycle continues.
