With the entire world heading into a completely enlightened state, why is it that many still refuse to accept, adapt, and change?

The world is not heading into a completely enlightened state, no. This is a big spiritual misconception. You are heading into an enlightened state, you. Just you. But the world is also you. So, this mergeance with the world, this acceptance of it, and of all the people in it, this opening up to the world is what the process of spiritual enlightenment is all about. It is you and the world coming together, after having been apart for such a long time.

So, it is no surprise that when it begins to happen, from your own, personal perspective, it may seem as if the world is headed into an enlightened state, and some people are resisting it. There’s also a tendency to think that you resist less than they do, and put some blame on them, because they “slow down the process”. This is a frequent perspective, but it’s an incorrect perspective. A much more honest, a much more truthful perspective is that it is you who is moving into an enlightened state, and you are simply observing your own resistance to accepting people as they are, not their resistance to enlightenment. In authentic spirituality, the focus must always remain on yourself.

The process of spiritual enlightenment happens in your mind. People will also become enlightened in it, not just you, but they will become enlightened to you. Whether they will be enlightened to themselves, which is the actual measure of whether or not the world is really heading into a completely enlightened state, will ultimately depend on how many people like you complete their own process and become available for guidance. Enlightenment as a state of being is nowhere near tipping the scales against the mass culture, so don’t expect everyone to become enlightened with you, or even with your help, or even follow your steps. In your mind they will all be enlightened one day, hopefully, but not necessarily in theirs. So, you must focus on yourself, this process is for you. It’s for your own perception of the world, it is the journey of re-descovering the long forgotten real world and becoming in agreement with it, not in an argument with it.

Looking at it any other way, expecting people to change won’t be very productive, because fundamentally, people only change on their own volition. For as long as you wish to impose change upon people, they will resist it. When you have accepted yourself for how you are, you have accepted everybody else for how they are, and those who truly want to change through accepting themselves will be attracted to you while those who don’t want any change will be repelled by you. But even then, when you’re enlightened, it will still only happen on their own volition, you can’t force it. You absolutely cannot help anybody, people are very fundamentally free, this freedom is very deep in our nature. So the best one can hope for, truly, is exposure. The more people with deep, authentic insight there are on the planet, the more accessible they are, the better. Those who want to change will find those who can facilitate change, and that’s the only way change in massive scale can happen. Which makes it doubly important that you continue with your spiritual awakening and don’t get stuck in various traps along the way, like this one!

So, don’t try to insist on change or actively propagate change, my friend! At this stage of your journey, it’s not like people are resisting you, it is you resisting people! Focus on your resistance to the fact that people resist change. This resistance is there due to your own desire to change them.
