Racism is not prejudice, racism is hatred and fear. That’s not the same thing. For example, I may have a prejudice against white NBA players in the context of the game, but I would still never treat them as lesser people or show any negativity towards them personally. And even within the context of the game, if they prove themselves, my prejudice goes away with it. Prejudice by itself is innocent, but prejudice mixed with and magnified by hatred and fear can lead to truly horrific behavior, because hatred and fear are blind.
