Is the female emotional response to being left by a male partner different than it being vice versa?
No, it’s not different, it is generally the same.
There’s a slight statistical difference between genders in this situation, and on average, men take a longer time than women to recover after a breakup.
Men, on averge, are more vulnerable than women, they just hide it very well. They are more vulnerable because they are less free. The less one is allowed to display their vulnerability, the more vulnerable they become. Men are not expected to be seen as vulnerable, so they suffer in silence.
Which is also why, even though both genders do it, men are more likely than women to drown themselves in alcohol or commit suicide. Women are more resilient precisely because they’re allowed to be more vulnerable.
