I never experienced sleep paralysis before starting meditation. Should I stop?

Sleep paralysis is a sign of spiritual progress. It’s just a rare moment when your awareness penetrates your sleep. I assume you’re asking this question because it was scary. It is only scary for you because it’s unusual for you. There is nothing to be afraid of. You are just experiencing consciousness with no awareness of the body. Or, one could also say, you for a moment became conscious of how your brain turns off the body to relax its every muscle during the night. It can happen suddenly in the middle of the night when you temporarily emerge from deep sleep and your body is not awake yet, but your waking consciousness is.

Don’t be afraid of it. Enlightened beings experience it every night as they dissolve into deep sleep and re-emerge from it in the morning. Make friends with it - it has a warm and welcoming nature once you get used to it and are not afraid of it anymore. Next time it happens, remember that fear is just fear, it’s illusory, try to appreciate the experience.
